Paul Feig Signs Superstud

Meeting Paul was a real thrill for me, since I am such a big fan of Freaks & Geeks and his books. Because, like him, I am an only child from Michigan with older parents (and a geek), I could relate all too well to both Kick Me and Superstud. Seriously, reading his books is downright scary sometimes because our experiences growing up were so similar. It was with great pleasure that I was able to tell him how much his work meant to me.

Paul was amazingly generous with his time. My friend Brandon, who came with me, was able to get a great picture of Paul and me together. His assistant then offered to take a picture of the three of us. Unfortunately, I have a complicated digital camera and at first she couldn't figure out how to use the zoom. I was so nervous that my arm was shaking pretty bad when I had it around Paul's shoulder for the picture. Eventually, we got the photo, and it turned out very well. Still, my apologies to the people behind me in line, and thank you, Paul, for your patience.

By the way, Brandon had never seen F&G before, so I showed him the pilot that same night and now he's hooked. Another convert!

My best to all the message board regulars. As Paul would say, Rock on!

I've just gotten back from the Borders book signing in Birmingham, and I have one word for this event: Awesome!

Unfortunately, I was late and missed the opening of Paul's lecture, which I 'm sure was hilarious. Paul answered questions from the audience. He did mention that he pitched a show at HBO called Nice Guys, but HBO selected Entourage instead. Paul said that he was in discussion with Conan O'Brien to see if the show could be picked up.

The signing began around 8pm, and I was in the middle of roughly 150 to 200 people. This is my estimate, so there could have been more or less. I meet someone from Kalamazoo named John who also had the Special Edition DVD. By the way, John you rock! He commented on my Haverchuck for President bytton. I told him that I had gotten the button from The Vegan on the message board. Thanks again Arnold for sending me the button.

Of course, I failed to mention where I had gotten the button to Paul. I had gotten up to the desk and I told Paul that I was a regular on the board and he said it was a pleasure meeting me. I told him when you create the best show in the world I'm there. Of course, I was trying to thank him for creating the best show in the world, but it was garbled.

He signed my Special Edition DVD and Kick Me. What he has writen was just amazing thanking me for my support and that I rocked! The only thing I wish I had done is brought a camera. I would have loved to have had a picture taken of Paul and I. Tim, could you possibly post your photos?

By the way, Tim it was also a pleasure meeting you! I waited around until the end and Paul said to me I'll see you on the web site. I told Paul I'd post something about tonight at the web site. Paul said to be kind. I said don't worry I will.

Overall, tonight was the highlight of my life! I guess the only negative aspect is that Paul had to leave at nine, so time was limited. I also wonder Krinkle Rug had made it? Anyway, thanks again Paul, and as always You Rock!

I second Mark in saying that the event was AMAZING. I felt like such a geek because I couldn't stop smiling. Paul's reading was so funny and entertaining and even though I had read his book, it all seemed so new coming from him. The other highlight of the reading was a very old man who was laughing and smiling at all of the mastubatory humor (although a bit wistfully I presume).

My only regret was that I didn't have a way to know who people were. It would have been nice to meet you Mark, but oh well.

The only thing better than Paul's reading was meeting him. Paul was such an incredibly nice and welcoming guy! So many people speak of meeting their heroes only to find out that they're actually jerks. Well, let me just say that I was not in the least disapointed in meeting mine. If you have an opportunity to go to a book signing DO IT. I'm still floating. If Millie Kentner likes getting high on life, then going to a Paul Feig book signing would probably make her overdose.
